We stayed at Grand Hotel Tremezzo for part of our honeymoon and, unfortunately, it was the most disappointing hotel experience of our trip. We had informed the hotel numerous times that we were celebrating our honeymoon, yet there was virtually no acknowledgment of it during our stay. It wasn’t until our travel planner specifically intervened that anything was done, and that happened on our final day. At a hotel of this caliber and price point, that was surprising—especially when every hotel we visited afterward was incredibly warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to celebrate such a special trip with us. The biggest disappointment was the service. We often found it unfriendly and, at times, almost dismissive. The concierge experience was particularly frustrating. We did Laundry service. We had to ask them to deliver it, when we called they said oh it’s ready..We specifically asked one concierge what there was to do in the area and essentially received an “I don’t know.” Then, the day before we checked out, another concierge handed us an approximately 20-page guide filled with activities and recommendations. We couldn’t understand why none of this had been offered when we initially asked. Our room and bathroom also felt extremely small for the price and category of hotel. The food was okay, but nothing particularly memorable. The spa was actually the highlight of our stay and something we did enjoy. The property and Lake Como itself are obviously beautiful, but beautiful surroundings alone don’t create a five-star luxury experience. At this price point, service, hospitality, attention to detail, and making guests feel genuinely cared for matter enormously. We stayed at several luxury hotels throughout our honeymoon, and unfortunately Grand Hotel Tremezzo was by far our least favorite. There are much better luxury hotel experiences, particularly for couples celebrating something special. We would not return.
