Dear Ivo Gorkic, We are sorry to read your review, but we would like to clarify a few facts. First of all, water at our restaurant does not cost €11 per liter – not even close. Furthermore, our five-course dinner is carefully designed to leave our guests satisfied, and we find it very surprising that you claim to have left hungry. We fully respect honest feedback and constructive criticism. However, we kindly ask that reviews remain factual and do not spread misleading information. Please remember that words have an impact, even when posted "just" online. We work hard every day to provide our guests with a wonderful experience, and we believe that fairness and honesty should go both ways. Thank you.

Our seven day stay was a perfect delight! The cuisine is fantastic--the breakfasts are lavish with a detailed focus on delicious fresh local products, and the dinners are elegant and tasty with choices for every taste. The pleasant accompanying wine list is well chosen. The chef is very talented which made us look forward to each meal. Our room, spacious and very comfortable, had a view to the mountains as well as to the local church. The spa is well designed and quite beautiful with several saunas, quiet rooms, and a good indoor-outdoor pool. The entire staff is very friendly, welcoming and caring. They seem to really like working there! And the owner himself makes sure the guests stay content and happy. I want to add that the hotel's central location in the Zillertal was appreciated. We came by car and kept it in the hotel's private garage. One can also do well with the public transportation going on different hikes each day and maybe visit Innsbruck one day. Of the many choices for hotels I researched in this area, I feel very lucky to have found the Zillertalerhof. We had high expectations and those were exceeded. We look forward to returning.

Wir haben das Paket „Weekend Escape“ für 2 Personen + 1 Hund gebucht. Vorab gilt es zu erwähnen, dass ein Hund 30 Euro pro Tag kostet, was nicht unüblich aber durchaus teurer als woanders ist. Für uns kein Problem, da unser Hund ein Familienmitglied ist. Bei der Online-Buchung gab es eine Kommentarspalte, in der der Gast Rückfragen oder Infos teilen kann. Hier äußerte ich mich, dass wir unseren Hund nicht alleine auf dem Zimmer lassen können und wir darum bitten, dass wir unseren Hund mit zum Frühstück und Abendessen nehmen dürfen. Meine Buchung wurde bestätigt - woraufhin ich davon ausging, dass ein Mitarbeiter meinen Kommentar gelesen hat und diese Voraussetzung sicherstellen konnte. Ohne diese Voraussetzung hätten wir ein anderes Hotel gebucht. Bei der Ankunft um 11:45 Uhr war unser Zimmer nicht fertig - wir hatten im Paket einen early-checkin für 11 Uhr gebucht. Kann passieren- erst einmal kein Problem. Der Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption konnte allerdings in der Buchung keine Info zum „Extra mit Hund“ finden. Dafür hatte ich Screenshots auf dem Handy gemacht, die zeigten, dass wir die 60 Euro für den Hund dazugebucht hatten. Nun stand das Thema „Hund beim Abendessen“ aus. Der Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption beruhigte mich & versicherte, dass man eine Lösung finde und wir vermutlich separat im Wintergarten platziert werden, was kein Problem für uns darstellt. Nachdem die Unklarheit geklärt waren, durften wir in unsere Alpine Suite, die keinerlei Wünsche offen lies. Es war ein modernes, großzügiges und sehr sauberes Zimmer. Das hat uns besonders gut gefallen und wir haben uns extrem wohlgefühlt. Als wir gegen 16:30 Uhr noch zum Wandern unterwegs waren, rief eine Mitarbeiterin des Hotels an. Sie teilte uns mit, dass wir unseren Hund nun aufgrund von einer Allergie eines anderen Gastes nicht mit zum Abendessen nehmen dürfen. Ab da war die Urlaubsstimmung leider erst einmal dahin. Wir waren sehr enttäuscht und baten um eine Lösung und einen Rückruf. Denn wir hatten ja mittags noch eine andere Auskunft bekommen. Gegen 18 Uhr kamen wir ins Hotel zurück, ohne einen Rückruf vom Hotel. Bis dato war also völlig unklar, wie es weitergeht. Hier hätten wir uns gewünscht, dass man sich nochmals gemeldet hätte. Die Mitarbeiterin an der Rezeption sagte uns, dass Katharina uns nun doch im Wintergarten essen lässt. Katharina begrüßte uns und lief auf unsere sehr ängstliche Hündin zu, mit den Worten „ Na wo ist denn unser Angsthund?“. Das fanden wir sehr unsensibel. Wir kamen uns ein bisschen vor wie „Aussetzige“, die keiner so richtig dahaben möchte. Die angespannte Stimmung zwischen uns legte sich allmählich, Katharina ist nach dem Vorfall professionell geblieben und hat sich immer wieder nach dem Rechten erkundigt. Dennoch blieb leider ein unschönes Bauchgefühl und wir werden leider nicht mehr dort buchen. Erwähnenswert ist die Massage, die wirklich toll war! Das hat den Entspannungsfaktor etwas gehoben. Allerdings stimmte unsere Endrechnung nicht, da die Massage zusätzlich zu unserem „Paketpreis“ aufgeführt wurde und wir fast doppelt gezahlt hätten. Dasselbe Problem hatten wir leider beim Tiefgaragenparkplatz der versehentlich 1x zu viel berechnet wurde, was im Nachgang korrigiert wurde.

I am replying as Ivo’s wife, as we stayed at the hotel together and I was present at every dinner. Since you have once again publicly portrayed my husband as someone spreading “misleading information” and reminded him that words have an impact, I think it is only fair that this time we focus on verifiable facts and on your own documents. First, regarding the water. On the first evening, we ordered a bottle of wine for €39 and a bottle of water. The total charge for that evening was €46.10, which means the water cost €7.10. The bottle contained 0.65 litres, which works out at approximately €10.92 per litre. My husband did not write that a one-litre bottle cost €11. He wrote that bottled water cost €11 per litre. The difference between €10.92 and €11 is 8 cents. That is why your statement that the water “does not cost €11 per liter – not even close” is rather difficult to understand. We ordered bottled water only on the first evening. On the following evenings, we no longer ordered water and ordered only wine in the restaurant, because paying extra for bottled water at that price did not make sense to us. This seemed even more unusual to us because the hotel repeatedly emphasises the quality and drinkability of the local water. There is even an empty bottle provided in the room for guests to fill with tap water and chill if they wish. For that reason, we found it difficult to understand why ordinary water was not available with dinner and only paid bottled water was offered. Now to the advertised 5-course gourmet dinner. I am attaching four actual dinner menus from our stay. They show the structure of the evening offering: a first course or soup/starter, a main course and dessert, with a cheese buffet available on some evenings. With both the main courses and desserts, guests chose between the available options; these were not additional courses. So one very simple question remains: Which five separate courses can be identified on each of the attached menus? If you have a different explanation, please state it clearly. Simply repeating that it was a five-course dinner does not change what is shown on the menus. I also find your surprise that my husband was still hungry after dinner inappropriate. Feeling full is a guest’s personal experience. You may find it surprising, but you cannot declare that experience untrue. On the last two evenings, because I was missing salad and vegetables, I went to Spar before dinner, bought myself a salad and ate it before going to your restaurant. That too is part of our actual experience, not “misleading information”. I would also like to emphasise that in his original review my husband explicitly praised your staff, the service, the presentation of the food and the wine selection. His criticism concerned the culinary offering and our actual experience of it. So I fully agree with your statement that words have an impact and that fairness and honesty should go both ways. For exactly that reason, a hotel should also be careful when publicly portraying a guest as someone spreading misleading information. I am attaching the bill and the menus. Readers can calculate the price of the water, count the courses and decide for themselves which side is sticking to verifiable facts.
